If your home was built between the mid 1980s and the late 1990s, there is a good chance its water lines are Poly B. At South Surrey Plumbing, we replace Poly B piping in homes across South Surrey, White Rock and Langley, swapping the old grey pipe for new water lines you can rely on.
How to tell if you have Poly B
Poly B is a grey plastic pipe. Look for it near your hot water tank, in the crawl space, under sinks, or at the main shut-off valve. The giveaway is PB2110 stamped along the pipe itself.
Not sure what is in your walls? Check your home inspection report or the seller’s disclosure statement from when you bought. Both usually name the pipe material. We can also confirm it for you during a visit.
Why homeowners are replacing it
Poly B breaks down slowly from the inside. It rarely gives warning before a fitting lets go, and the water usually ends up inside a wall or a ceiling, where the cleanup gets expensive.
Insurance is the other push. Many BC insurers now charge more on homes with Poly B, trim the water damage coverage at renewal, or refuse a new policy until the pipe is gone. Replacing it removes the argument.
What a full replacement involves
A repipe replaces the Poly B water lines throughout your home with new piping. We start by mapping the existing lines and planning the runs, then replace the pipe section by section and test everything before we close up.
Your water is shut off only while the work is underway. When we are done, the Poly B is out of your home for good, and you have paperwork showing the new piping for your insurer.
